The object of accompaniment
• It is a noun in the Nasb (accusative case) which comes after the particle (و) to indicate something that does the action at the same time of the subject. This particle و can have here the meaning of "with, along, at the same time"
Ex. سار زيد والطريقَ / Zaid walked along the street.
This sentence means that the walking took place along the street.
This is why we call the particle و here the waw of accompaniment and what follows it is declined as a complement of cause or reason.
• If the sentence combines between both the meaning of accompaniment and that of partaking, then the noun following the و can either:
- Be in the accusative case as an object of accompaniment
Ex. أتى الأميرُ والجيشَ The prince came (at the same time of) the army.
- Be a noun annexed to the one preceding it by a coordinating particle.
Ex. أتى الأميرُ والجيشُ The prince came with the army.
