The adverb of State
The adverb of state, الحال, is a noun in the accusative case, منصوب, which indicate the state or the situation of another noun. Ex : جَاءَ زيدٌ ضاحِكًا (Zaid came laughing)
The adverb of state does not constitute an indispensable element of the sentence, but it does add to it a secondary information.
The adverb of state is usually an indefinite noun, نكِرَة . Ex. رجع المسافر سالمًا (The traveler returned safely) / رجع المسافر السالم (The save traveler has returned).
The noun to which refers the adverb of state, صاحب الحال, is usually a definite noun.
Ex. جلس الطالب منتبها (the student sat attentively)
